Wedding of Ashley and Colin

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

I discovered Sophia Grace after a colleague at work told me she got her dream dress there and raved about the experience.

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

The experience at Sophia Grace from start to finish was first class! All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming from the minute we booked the appointment to setting foot inside the shop to taking my beautiful dress home.

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown

I went into Sophia Grace with a specific dress in mind and also only one designer (Enzoani) but Ines quickly showed me a few other dresses she thought I might like that I had never heard of and I ended up picking the first dress she put me in that wasn’t even the designer I went in for! They sure know their stuff! My dress was a Zavana gown and it really was and still is the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen!

How did you meet?  Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

My husband and I met at Edinburgh Airport where we both worked and still do. He clocked me as newbie (his words!) and sent me a Facebook friend request, the rest is history.

He proposed to me after five years together when we were on holiday in Mexico. He had arranged a private candlelit dinner on the beach and after led me off to a secluded area set up with roses and candles and dropped down onto one knee in the sand.

Did Covid-19 Impact your wedding?

Covid-19 did sadly impact our wedding and unfortunately we had to postpone for a further year but it really did make us appreciate our day even more and meant the world to us to be able to have all our friends and family there with us celebrating.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

Our venue was Inglewood House and Spa in Alloa. We had viewed quite a few other venues before choosing here but as soon as we both seen it we knew it was the one! The staff were so lovely, polite and friendly and the building speaks for itself, it’s stunning both inside and out! It was the perfect space for us and my favourite part has got to be the aisle which is a beautiful large grand staircase you get to walk down.

Tell us about your wedding

The theme for our wedding was mainly silver/grey colours. I’m not the most colourful person so kept things beautiful and fresh with white roses along with thistles and eucalyptus among other flowers for my bouquet and decorative flowers throughout our venue. Our cake also had white hand made sugar roses cascading down the front & silver leaf around the middle tier and the boys were in stunning grey tartan kilts too.

Our wedding day was just the best day of both of our lives. Everything was just perfect and the photos and videos show just how truly happy we both were. Everything went to plan due to the staff being so organised and so many people have told us what a brilliant day they had celebrating with us.

I had been worried about the weather but the sun shone which made our caricature happy as he was able to draw outside and get a tan at the same time! It was even too hot at night on the dance floor but that might have been due to the fact no one wanted to stop dancing as our singer/DJ combo were just amazing!

What was the most memorable moment?

The most memorable moment for me has got to be waiting to walk down the staircase aisle with my dad and actually realising how nervous I was but so excited at the same time! I couldn’t wait to get to the end of the aisle and see Colin but also to show off my dress!

Colin says his favourite memory was having our photos taken on the large grass grounds at the front of Inglewood and feeling like it was just us in our own little world. This was the part he was most dreading in actual fact but our photographer was the nicest, funniest guy and made us feel so at ease. We are so overwhelmed at how amazing his photos are.

Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?

My advice for any future brides would be to make sure you can dance in your dress! I had a bustle fitted into the back of my dress which allowed it to be gathered up and easier to move around in when night time came.
