Wedding of Jane and Andy

How did you find out about Sophia Grace Couture?

My maid of honour found Sophia Grace online and booked us in.

How would you describe your experience at Sophia Grace Couture?

I had previously been to another bridal salon and left feeling completely deflated and not wanting to do any more dress shopping. My experience at Sophia Grace, however, was the complete opposite. Hannah, made me feel completely at ease and encouraged me to try on lots of different styles, like I was in my own episode of Say Yes To The Dress! Hannah wasn’t pushy and made the whole experience really enjoyable. The alterations team were also fantastic. They worked so quickly and meticulously and were happy to provide advice to make sure you felt the best you possibly could on your Big Day.

Tell us about your dress and why you choose your particular gown

I fell in love with my dress when I first saw it. It was directly ahead of my on a mannequin when I walked in to the shop. The fit was stunning, showing off all of my curves and making me feel sexy and classy at the same time…but it was the train! OMG the train was like something out of a fairy tale and just gave the dress that extra bit to make it feel so special and like it was made for me.

How did you meet?  Are you happy to tell us about the proposal?

We got engaged at home in the middle of the pandemic. We had been together for 10 years and every time we went away my friends would say “This is it! He will propose on this holiday!” So it was actually really special to get engaged at home, it was a complete surprise and so lovely to just be the two of us in our little bubble!

What was your inspiration for your wedding?  Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

We wanted our colours to be really neutral, so we focused on white and nude coloured flowers with light green foliage. We wanted to the colour scheme to look classy and our venue was quite opulent so we didn’t want to detract from the surroundings.

Did Covid-19 Impact your wedding?

On our wedding day we were in Level 1 restrictions. We had 64 guests and there was no singing or dancing. But it made no difference to us and our guests. To be able to have all our loved ones together for the first time in 18 months made the day even more special.

What made you decide upon your chosen venue?

We got married at Manderston House and we chose them because the venue itself is stunning, with Scottish weather being changeable we knew if we had to be inside all day the venue was beautiful as well as the stunning grounds outside, so the pictures would be stunning. There is also a beautiful silver staircase which I really wanted to get a photo of my dress on!

Tell us about your wedding - what was your most memorable moment?

It’s so hard to choose just one memorable moment, my top 3 would definitely be walking in to the church and seeing Andy for the first time, our car ride back to the Manderston House from the church (some time for just the two of us and a glass of bubbles) and the fireworks display that rounded off our celebrations.

Do you have any advice for future brides visiting Sophia Grace Couture?

Just relax and enjoy it and try on everything! You don’t know until you try it. Hannah and the whole Sophia Grace team are amazing and you will have the best experience with them!
